Service Manager for PDA

Sep 23: Released & shipping from today is the latest generation of Service Manager for PDA mobile solutions utilizing the latest Microsoft .NET development technology.
This version has matured the PDA solutions considerably and with the rapid drop in pricing for PDA/cell phones using Windows Pocket PC 2003 and Windows Mobile 5 operating systems, Technisoft is looking forward to massive growth with this exciting new product.
The official product name is PDA Server Add-On for Service Manager. This includes all programs plus five (5) user licenses. Additional license packs of five (5), ten (10) or twenty (20) user licenses are also available.
The software application works with Microsoft SQL Server 2000. It can be installed on either Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP or Windows 2003 Server. Generally the PDA has to support Microsoft Compact Framework 2.0 and SQL Mobile 2005.
Requirements include:
- Screen display with a minimum 240 x 320 in portrait (standing) mode. (Future versions of the application will have better support for other screen resolutions and page orientation)
- ActiveSync 3.8 or 4.1 installed on the PC used for cradling the PDA
- For wireless (non cradled) data synchronization, the PDA has to connect to the internet using a wireless network (WiFi) or mobile phone networks such as GSM, GPRS, CDMA or Edge. PDA with mobile support is called Pocket PC Phone Edition.
This mobile PDA solution now includes the ability to update and create jobs live from the field. It is possible to update or add labor/time charges, items from inventory, notations, change job status or priority, complete jobs, check urgent jobs, reassign jobs, take signatures, look up history, determine faults, update tasks and activities for preventative maintenance processes, just to mention a few of the new features.
